His wife Kellie, who died from an accidental fall in 2007, loved horse racing too. She is survived with three sons - Blake, Brian and Tyler apart from lone daughter Alexis.

Valdimir was a good soccer player at the early years of his life. He went to California in the year 1974 and attended UCLA. He earned his graduate degree from UCLA in Kinesiolog y and continued working four years in that particular field. After that he took profession al training that is give to the athletes, tennis players and basketball players. He thought that some of that technique could be used at the time of giving training to the thoroughbr ed horses. But, he found out basic difference s in training horses and athletes. Finally, he learned from trainer Rafael Martinez during the late 1970s and took out license in 1981. He posted first winning title with Hollywood Reporter in 1989 Spotlight Breeders̢ ۪ Cup Handicap at Hollywood Park. He was the leading trainer at Fairplex Park in 1994 and 1995 and won first $1 Million race in 2000. He has won 43 races through the end of 2007 and has earned huge amount of dollars.
