Notes: Whirlaway was an American thoroughbr ed racehorse that snatched Triple Crown Victory in 1941. He was sired by ‘Blenheim II’ out of the dam Dustwhirl at Calumet Farm in Lexington, Kentucky. He was voted the Eclipse Award for Horse of the Year for 1941 and again in the next year. At the end of 1942, more than twenty thousand people gathered to watch Whirlaway win the inaugural Louisiana Handicap at the Fair Ground Race Course. At five, Whirlaway got retirement to stud and sired 1947 Kentucky Derby winner – Jet Pilot and 1947 Pimlico Special winner Fervent. Later, he was shipped to France to help Marcel Boussac at his Haras de Fresnay-le -Buffard. He was elected to the national museum of Racing and Hall of Fame in 1959.
