The Metropolitan Handicap is a thoroughbred horse-racing event that is run at a distance of eight furlongs at Belmont Park racetrack. This Grade I thoroughbred horse racing event is open to three year olds and up and offers a purse of $600,000. It is often referred to as the Met Mile and is the first in a series of three races. It is followed by the Suburban Handicap and the Brooklyn Handicap.
