Notes
The John Battaglia Memorial Stakes is an American horseracing event that is raced at a distance of one and one sixteenth miles on the dirt track of Turfway Park. This race is open to thoroughbred horses with age three. This ungraded stakes carries a purse amount of $100,000 and it is considered as the preparatory race for the Lane’s End Stakes. The name of this horseracing event has been taken from the former general manager of the old Latonia Race Course, which is at present known as Turfway Park. John Battaglia was also the general manager of Miles Park in Louisville, Kentucky. Mike Battaglia, his son, is one of the track announcers at Turfway Park Racetrack and is also a racing analysts working for NBC Sports. In 2009, Proceed Bee entertained spectators with his brilliant performance. He clinched the top position.
