McLaughlin is a thoroughbr ed racehorse trainer. McLaughlin was a student at the University of Kentucky yet he decided to forgo his studies and follow a career in the racing industry. He started an assistant for trainers before going to work for D. Wayne Lukas in 1985. In 1992 he became the agent for jockey Chris Antley. He signed on as a trainer for Sheik Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum in Dubai. In Dubai and New York he trained horses for Sheik Mohammed. He was the leading trainer at Dubai s Nad Al Sheba Racecourse on three occasions. McLaughlin opened a stable in New York. He has trained Shadwell s colt who won the Belmont Stakes, and he had a lot of success with Invasor. He went on to win many races in the U.S. which included the Breeders Cup Classic. He was also voted U.S. Horse of the Year. He further went on to earn the No.1 World Thoroughbr ed Racehorse Ranking. The Dubai World Cup, which is the wealthiest race in the world was won by Invasor. |
