His father, Jackie Breen had taken him to watch races. As a teenager he dreamed of a career as a jockey. At 18, he became an assistant trainer. From 1994 to 2000 Kelly Breen assisted Ben Perkins Sr. He rode significan t horses - Skier, Meritocrat , Appealing, Confide and Forest Wildcat and Confide while assisting Ben Perkins Sr. He was the leading trainer in Monmouth Park in 2005 and 2006. He was awarded the training title in 2006 winning 56 races. Horses trained by Kelly Breen include - West Side Bernie, Desire to Excel, Bold Union, Praying for Cash, Eternal Grace, True Addiction and Appealing Spring. He won 2 Grade III races - Kentucky Cup Juvenile Stakes (2008) with West Side Bernie and Long Branch Breeders\' Cup Stakes (2006) with Praying for Cash.Kelly Breen engages in golf in his spare time. |
