Aidan O'Brien inherited license for racing from his father-in- law at 23 and set his first win on the debut day with Wandering Thoughts at Tralee. He sprouted to a full-fledg ed trainer under a safe umbrella of John Magnier and Michael Tabor of the Coolmore Group. Aidan finished second in his first season at Ballydoyle while snatched that title in 1997. O'Brien had hard luck in 1998 when he finished third but took revenge by regaining the title in 1999 and continued winning for the next couple of years. His Desert King brought him first group 1 win in the 1996 National Stakes; registered seven European classics title in 2001; won the British Championsh ip again in 2002 and claimed titles in 2005 and 2006 also.
